first of all, it's about lies, not politeness, you could also simply put "talking" in this sentence instead of politeness, why don't you stop that then?
politicians abuse it to make people happier and also tell them lies.
if you don't want/ like to be polite then just don't be, you don't have to find any reason for that or make it look logical
plus, I absolutely believe you are/ have been polite to many JUST to make them happy.
